FAQs
How do I know if I need to update my Drivers?
If you are unsure of whether or not you need to update your Drivers, or indeed which Drivers may need to be updated, you can run a Drivers scan using a driver update tool (you will need to pay to register this tool but usually the Drivers scan is free). This will allow you to assess your Driver needs without any commitment. Alternatively, you can use the device manager to check if there are problems with any of your hardware devices.
Can I update the Drivers myself?

HP Drivers Problems
HP or Hewlett Packard is a very well-known and well-regarded name in the world of PC’s and related devices, covering products such as Laptops, Desktop PCs, Tablets, Smartphones, Printers, Monitors and Scanners. All of these devices need up-to-date drivers in order to work properly. Outdated, corrupt or missing drivers are the main source of the problems our users experience with their HP products.
A driver is essentially a piece of software which enables your PC to communicate with your HP PC or device. With the launch of new operating systems such as Windows 7 peripheral devices such as your printer or scanner will require updated drivers to keep working. It is therefore important to keep your drivers up-to-date whether doing it manually or using driver update software to automate this often tedious process.
HP Printers are very widely used and like other devices, if Drivers are not kept up-to-date there are a variety of problems that you may experience. These include:
- computer not detecting the printer
- erratic behavior such as programs freezing or crashing when trying to print (you may see the message “HPPCLM5.DRV”)
- unexpected print results such as blank pages or missing or random characters on the printout
Problems Installing Hp Printer Driver Windows 7
HP Drivers Problems – more information
Im trying to install my HP LaserJet Pro M125a in my computers. It has a USB connection. Everytime I try to install it on my Windows 7 I get an error when the 'printing' driver tries to install. Scanning works just fine, HP Print and scan doctor can make the printer print a internal self-diagnostic page too.
I was able to install the printer on Windows 10 using 'HP LaserJet Mono PCLmS Class Driver' as a printing driver instead of the one provided on the HP support page. Its working just fine.
I think that both Windows 7 and Windows 10 are blocking the installation of Type 3 (kernel-mode) drivers. Because 'HP LaserJet Mono PCLmS Class Driver' is a Type 4 (user-mode) driver, it works fine but I cant find it on Windows 7, I think its a Windows 10 native driver.
Install Hp Printer Drivers For Windows 7 Ethernet Controller
Windows 7 isnt even able to connect to the printer over the network, it gets the same driver error.
The error also says that a policy in my machine is blocking the installation of Kernel-mode drivers. I found that policy on gpedit and changed it. Had no effect, both versions of Windows ignored what I setup in the policy.
What I am trying to do to solve my problem is to export the 'HP LaserJet Mono PCLmS Class Driver' from my Windows 10 machine and use it on my Windows 7 machine, but Im having problems to find out how.
Is there any way to export it? I tried using the 'export-windowsdriver' command on Windows 10 powershell, it worked like a charm but 'HP LaserJet Mono PCLmS Class Driver' didnt come along. I found that command only exports third party drivers, so Im assuming 'HP LaserJet Mono PCLmS Class Driver' is a Microsoft driver.
PS: I have a similar thread on HP Support forum to try to get some help from them, so far no success..
