Conn 80A Silver Cornet 1948 - Reconditioned - Nice Case and Conn 4 Mouthpiece Bore.484 - Serial# 379. This horn shows very well and plays beautifully. Hikvision software download free. Tuning slide was stuck and shows signs of removal on the inside curve, I got the biggest dent ball through the assembled slide that would fit. Sep 12, 2009  Here is my other cornet. I went to the Conn loyalist list and says manufactured c.1919. The star before the serial number is supposed to denote a custom build. All the valve serial numbers match. Although this cornet looks extremely straight, it's not playable. Plays like if it were leaking from one of the spit valves; but it's not.

OK guys, now I need your opinion.
Here's a link leading to a Dropbox flie. In the photos, please pay special attention to the branch that comes from 3rd slide and connects to the bell. As you can see, it's not straight at all..

It doesn't give me the impression the horn has been bumped, shocked or whatever. Looks like the branch has been stessed to fit to the brace or something like that. There's some other finish details like the water keys soldering, the pin soldered on the bottom of 3rd slide to fit to the trigger, both are not well finished at all. I also foung a big dried drop of lacquer on a water key. All those issues appears to be very weird for an expensive made in USA horn.
I bought this horn on e-Bay at a very cheap price ( less than 1K in canadian $$ ). If you look at the last photo, you clearly see this horn is like new. Actually, all those issues don't affect the playability - IMO -..it plays very well, sound is warm and easy to produce ( finally I fixed my high notes issue..).
Your opinion is VERY welcome. Of course, the no valid warranty anymore..
